In a bid to reduce traffic accidents and fatalities, Genrel Department Of Traffic  has increased the fines for a variety of traffic violations in 2024.

The most significant increase is for the fine for not wearing a seat belt. The fine for a first offense has increased from 50 Saudi riyals ($13.30) to 100 riyals ($26.60). The fine for a second offense has increased from 100 riyals to 200 riyals ($53.20).

Other notable increases include:

* The fine for speeding has increased from 50 riyals to 100 riyals for a first offense, and from 100 riyals to 200 riyals for a second offense. * The fine for talking on the phone while driving has increased from 50 riyals to 100 riyals. * The fine for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs has increased from 500 riyals to 1,000 riyals.

The increase in fines is part of a broader effort by the Saudi government to improve road safety. The government has also launched a number of other initiatives, such as a public awareness campaign and the installation of more speed cameras.

The government believes that the increase in fines will be an effective deterrent to dangerous driving behavior. The government is committed to reducing traffic accidents and fatalities, and it hopes that the higher fines will help to make Saudi roads safer for everyone.
